How is Giving, Worship?
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:21)
Everything that pours out of us is a reflection of His glory and power within us. Because God is worth our reverence, adoration and honor, our ultimate treasure is in him. He can be ultimate in our lives by putting him first, particularly in our giving. Giving however cannot be seen as worship if we are only giving out of duty.
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
It is important to understand that tithes and offerings at church are not just collected because bills need to be paid. During this time we are worshipping Christ; expressing our devotion and participating as one body. We must also remember that God notices how we give and he is more interested in how give than how much we give. When we give sacrficially God is pleased.
